The prestigious Belgian Chirec hospital group has several healthcare service units in and around Brussels. The privately owned company offers extensive and specialised healthcare expertise at its various locations. It treats about one fifth of the population of Brussels. The Delta Hospital in Auderghem, opened in 2018, is the largest and most advanced example of Chirec's high-quality healthcare offering.

Challenge

Hospitals have to be very strict about hygiene. Paper towels were for a long time the only option for hospitals for hand drying. Their drawbacks were not only the environmental impact of the energy needed to produce the paper, but also the fact that hand towels falling on the floor and litter bins in the toilets overflowing with paper towels did not create the clean and hygienic impression required in a hospital environment.

Solution

Delta Hospital installed an Airblade Wash+Dry hair dryer in the entrance lobby. Visitors can wash and dry their hands quickly and hygienically with the completely touch-free faucet dryer as soon as they enter the building. Hand drying takes place directly above the sink.

Quick and clean

Dyson's state-of-the-art, certified HEPA filter is proven to filter 99.97% of bacteria from the air. Hands dry in 14 seconds. Both the tap and the integrated hand dryer are automatically operated by a sensor and are therefore touch-free. As no surface needs to be touched when washing and drying hands, the risk of spreading bacteria is further reduced.

Clean and safe

Dyson Airblade Wash+Dry is designed to save space. It also has the advantage of washing and drying your hands in the same place. When washing and drying hands on the sink, the floor does not get wet. This also helps to avoid slipping. In addition, toilets look fresh and clean, and there are no worries about paper towels lying on the floor.

Sustainable development

The Dyson Airblade Wash+Dry hairdryer consumes up to 80% less carbon dioxide than paper towels, including all stages of production and transport. This delivers huge environmental savings for facilities like the Chirec Delta hospital complexes, which would consume huge quantities of hand towels every year.
